Relief without the UN? How can it be?

Bush 'Undermining UN with Aid Coalition'

Translation: UN again proves their own irrelevance; Kofi angry he can't profit from this disaster.

A) What moral authority does the UN have?
B) What moral authority is needed to deliver aid and relief to people in need?

Let's ask the people in Darfur about the UN's moral authority. Perhaps the UN would have offered some help if they had been hit by a flood or famine. Don't forget Rwanda.

Perhaps we could find some space for lease back in Geneva for the UN. I'll help load the truck.

Merry Christmas!!!

May you keep this story as the focus of your celebrations this year. God bless you this Christmas season and in the new year.

Luke 1:26-38
In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.”
“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”
The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. For nothing is impossible with God.” “I am the Lord's servant,” Mary answered. “May it be to me as you have said.” Then the angel left her.

Luke 2:1-20
In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to his own town to register.
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

The Shepherds and the Angels
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ[a] the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”
When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

Dump the FDA

Great article by Walter Williams. Is the FDA really protecting people?

Death by government

Is it or isn't it?

Today in Missouri an amber alert was issued for a missing fetus. The mother, who was eight months pregnant, was strangled and the baby was taken from her body. This is a horrible story. My problem with the reporting and question is this: If that mother had gone into labor, she would now have a baby. However, because she didn't deliver, it is simply a fetus? I can't get my mind around this logic. It was a baby as it grew and it is a baby now. I pray for the husband who lost a wife and father who lost a child. Pray the baby is recovered.

UPDATE: Infant Found
Evidently, at some point the fetus became a baby. Interesting. Thank God they found her.

Mr. Mayor, tear down that tree!!

If you haven't heard, there is a new chapter in the annual Christmas tree controversy. As usual, an athiest has objected to a 'giving tree' set up at the city hall in Bellevue, Washington. As the article states, the tree was set up to represent the generosity of the season. Can you please tell me what is offensive about a tree? I guess it is the deep religious overtones of the Christmas tree that are so offensive. Of course you remember how Joseph and Mary decorated a tree right there among the animals shortly after the birth of Jesus, right? Uh, sure.
The Christmas tree has long been recognized by the courts and sane people as a secular symbol of the holiday season in general and any insinuation that it is a religious symbol is purely ridiculous. I guess athiests will finally be happy when our society is stripped of all public observances, religious or otherwise.

Global Warming Update

Women more at risk from climate change
Heard this story on Rush today.

For those of you still looking for a Christmas gift for that special lady, nothing conveys your love like a new life jacket.

I find it ironic that liberals demand immediate attention when it comes to addressing global warming changes, which may or may not happen two or three hundred years down the road but are unwilling to allow reforms for Social Security which has a proven future of insolvency in the next 40 years. (No, raising the Social Security tax is not a reform.)

Longing for Europe?

Evidently, the U.S. no longer feels like home for some after the election. I find this story and prevailing attitude of "woe is me" on the left quite interesting. Whatever happened to working harder to communicate your message as a political party? Or becoming more resolute in your beliefs and active in political change? It seems that these people are willing to pack it in at the first sign of defeat. I guess a dumb red state hick could never hope to understand the intellect of the left.
Mr. Sinicki, I don't think there is any legislation in place that prevents you from teaching philosophy and civics to your children at home. Typically, I guess we are expected to rely on the government for all of our needs and the complete education of our children. Ridiculous.
Happy trails, Mr. Sinicki. Why don't you help Alec Baldwin make good on the dozen pledges he's made to leave the country over the years? I'm sure you have room for one more.
